WHEN TO PLANT TREES:
We can usually transplant trees 12 months of the year. When using a tree spade, trees may be transplanted in both dormant and growing months. Sometimes we need to delay transplanting due to snow or saturated soil from rains. But our crew is experienced at testing conditions so that we can complete the transplanting as soon as adverse conditions are lifted and we can get into the fields.

NEWLY MOVED TREES REQUIRE CARE & ATTENTION
WEEKLY WATERING IS CRITICAL

The most common cause of poor health in newly moved trees is lack of water, so the most important thing you can do for your trees is make sure they receive the right amount of water at the proper frequency during the growing season. (During the winter months, trees are dormant and the ground is often frozen, so water care is typically not a concern at this time.)

Trees should receive one good soaking of water per week via a garden hose set on a low stream for a couple of hours. Avoid daily watering because it discourages deep root growth. Use mulch around the base of the tree to retain as much moisture as possible.

Pay attention to a recently moved tree so that if changes occur, they can be noticed and addressed right away. Trees grown at Red Oak Tree Farm are backed by our promise to provide healthy trees, and basic care can keep your tree at its best.

Please call if your tree seems to be struggling after a move.
